Different Isn't Necessarily Better

I've read a lot of Colbain's books and this one surprised me - not in a good way. The plot is complex but is both improbable and unexciting. The characters are pasteboard models of victims suffering from traumas, mental disorders and asocial behaviors. This is capped off with interior dialogue that could have been stolen from one of those "Romance"novels available at your local grocery.

Poorly written, slow read. Super cheesy phrases and lines. Vocabulary was a bore. Words such as "seedy" and "cesspool" used over four times in the book. I was turning pages just to reach the end.

I read it quickly and thought the author did a nice job of slowly relaying the story to keep you guessing, but not so slow you get bored. Downloading more novels by this author now!

This was the least interesting Harlan Coben book I have read thus far and I have read nearly every one. I had correctly identified the murderer one-third of the way into the book. Usually there are last minute surprises in his books that keep you guessing-not so in this book. It was a very predictable murder mystery and he recycles some dialogue from some of his other books. I was very disappointed.

This book is only 500 pages Longmont my iPad. It was pretty good for a quick read. It wasn't exciting enough for me to stay up all night to read it, it also didn't stay in my head like some books do, but it wasn't bad.

A garbled mess of a story, put together by what seemed to be a series of afterthought's as the author labors his way forward. By the time the end comes,it never really comes to a thoughtful end but puts us through a laborious trail of twists and turns that one really doesn't care about any more. I would really like my money back, but I read it so I guess I bought it. My experience as a judge dealing with crimes is urging me to write after reading this fairy tale.

One of his bests!

I admit that I am a Harlan Coben junkie. I have read all of his books. Even when the characters are repeated from other books, they still hold your interest. His stories take twists and turns and keep you guessing throughout the entire book. This one was particularly good and the characters were so interesting and diversified, I highly recommend it. The only thing bad about the end of a Harlan Coben is that you have to wait for the next one to come out.

A Major Disappointment

I anxiously awaited the release of Stay Close because Harlan Coben books are that "on the edge of your seat" good. They are read all night, don't make dinner, don't do the wash, just read. So I had high expectations, but alas I labored to get thru the pages. Chapter after chapter I waited to get to the good stuff. Give me the mystery, give me a character to care about , give me a cohesive story line. I looked and read till the last page but there was nothing. I finished the book very disappointed and if I hadn't paid $14 I might not have finished. I still love Harlan Cobens books and will still be awaiting new releases but as for Stay Close ( which doesn't even have anything to do w the story?) I would advise Stay Away. Sorry Harlan

I didn't have any trouble downloading this book. So, hopefully that problem got resolved. I thought the book was quite the page turner & very entertaining. The author gets into some of the basics of human nature with this book. Being naughty can be thrilling in the short term, but there's always a price to pay for giving into forbidden desire. I've read a lot of Colbain's books and this one surprised me - not in a good way. The plot is complex but is both improbable and unexciting. The characters are pasteboard models of victims suffering from traumas, mental disorders and asocial behaviors. This is capped off with interior dialogue that could have been stolen from one of those "Romance"novels available at your local grocery.

This book is only 500 pages Longmont my iPad. It was pretty good for a quick read. It wasn't exciting enough for me to stay up all night to read it, it also didn't stay in my head like some books do, but it wasn't bad.

A garbled mess of a story, put together by what seemed to be a series of afterthought's as the author labors his way forward. By the time the end comes,it never really comes to a thoughtful end but puts us through a laborious trail of twists and turns that one really doesn't care about any more. I would really like my money back, but I read it so I guess I bought it. My experience as a judge dealing with crimes is urging me to write after reading this fairy tale.

I admit that I am a Harlan Coben junkie. I have read all of his books. Even when the characters are repeated from other books, they still hold your interest. His stories take twists and turns and keep you guessing throughout the entire book. This one was particularly good and the characters were so interesting and diversified, I highly recommend it. The only thing bad about the end of a Harlan Coben is that you have to wait for the next one to come out.

I anxiously awaited the release of Stay Close because Harlan Coben books are that "on the edge of your seat" good. They are read all night, don't make dinner, don't do the wash, just read. So I had high expectations, but alas I labored to get thru the pages. Chapter after chapter I waited to get to the good stuff. Give me the mystery, give me a character to care about , give me a cohesive story line. I looked and read till the last page but there was nothing. I finished the book very disappointed and if I hadn't paid $14 I might not have finished. I still love Harlan Cobens books and will still be awaiting new releases but as for Stay Close ( which doesn't even have anything to do w the story?) I would advise Stay Away. Sorry Harlan

The author gets into some of the basics of human nature with this book. Being naughty can be thrilling in the short term, but there's always a price to pay for giving into forbidden desire. Different Isn't Necessarily Better

I've read a lot of Colbain's books and this one surprised me - not in a good way. The plot is complex but is both improbable and unexciting. The characters are pasteboard models of victims suffering from traumas, mental disorders and asocial behaviors. This is capped off with interior dialogue that could have been stolen from one of those "Romance"novels available at your local grocery.

Poorly written, slow read. Super cheesy phrases and lines. Vocabulary was a bore. Words such as "seedy" and "cesspool" used over four times in the book. I was turning pages just to reach the end.

I read it quickly and thought the author did a nice job of slowly relaying the story to keep you guessing, but not so slow you get bored. Downloading more novels by this author now!

This was the least interesting Harlan Coben book I have read thus far and I have read nearly every one. I had correctly identified the murderer one-third of the way into the book. Usually there are last minute surprises in his books that keep you guessing-not so in this book. It was a very predictable murder mystery and he recycles some dialogue from some of his other books. I was very disappointed.

This book is only 500 pages Longmont my iPad. It was pretty good for a quick read. It wasn't exciting enough for me to stay up all night to read it, it also didn't stay in my head like some books do, but it wasn't bad.

A garbled mess of a story, put together by what seemed to be a series of afterthought's as the author labors his way forward. By the time the end comes,it never really comes to a thoughtful end but puts us through a laborious trail of twists and turns that one really doesn't care about any more. I would really like my money back, but I read it so I guess I bought it. My experience as a judge dealing with crimes is urging me to write after reading this fairy tale.

One of his bests!

I admit that I am a Harlan Coben junkie. I have read all of his books. Even when the characters are repeated from other books, they still hold your interest. His stories take twists and turns and keep you guessing throughout the entire book. This one was particularly good and the characters were so interesting and diversified, I highly recommend it. The only thing bad about the end of a Harlan Coben is that you have to wait for the next one to come out.

A Major Disappointment

I anxiously awaited the release of Stay Close because Harlan Coben books are that "on the edge of your seat" good. They are read all night, don't make dinner, don't do the wash, just read. So I had high expectations, but alas I labored to get thru the pages. Chapter after chapter I waited to get to the good stuff. Give me the mystery, give me a character to care about , give me a cohesive story line. I looked and read till the last page but there was nothing. I finished the book very disappointed and if I hadn't paid $14 I might not have finished. I still love Harlan Cobens books and will still be awaiting new releases but as for Stay Close ( which doesn't even have anything to do w the story?) I would advise Stay Away. Sorry Harlan

I didn't have any trouble downloading this book. So, hopefully that problem got resolved. I thought the book was quite the page turner & very entertaining. The author gets into some of the basics of human nature with this book. Being naughty can be thrilling in the short term, but there's always a price to pay for giving into forbidden desire. Doing the right thing always wins in the end.
